SBWGC SPECIAL TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE 2025

General Information  

All members are welcome to play in most tournaments with entry fees as noted. If a player can’t compete, they can Follow the Field for $1 to be eligible for Closest to the Pin and Closest to the Line competitions.

 All players must play to a maximum index of 40.4. (Course Handicap 45 from the Gold Tees or 39 from the Gold/Green Tees). Players with higher indexes are welcome to compete but must play to the 40.4 index.

Number of flights will be determined by the number of competitors. Fewer than 27 players = 2 flights, 27 or more players = 3 flights. Tournaments where hole by hole scores are taken will have separate flights for gold and gold/green tees.

 "Ringer" Rounds

An Eclectic Tournament that uses the scores from all postable rounds during the competition period to better the scores on each hole. Our computer system will select the best score on each hole during the period.

Winners will be based on net scores only. Prizes will be awarded for low net over the field and winners in all Flights.

All Ringer Round scorecards submitted must be played from the same set of Tees -- all Gold Tees or all Gold/Green Tees. 

 Participation is voluntary. Cash payouts. One time entry fee of $10.

Mardi Gras Tournament

Entry Fee: $5; CLUB FUNDS $75

Gold and Gold/Green Tees; both partners must play from the same tee.

Despite being a two person team event, for USGA Handicap Allowance purposes this is considered "Four Ball (Best Ball)".  Handicap Allowance 85% of each player

Club      Championship

 Club Champion will be the Low Gross score over the field.  There will also be LG/LN winners in each Flight.  

$15 entry fee due the first week. Follow the Field players pay $1 each week.

Must play all 3 weeks and must have played in at least 5 Wednesday play dates in the past 12 months to compete.

Champion receives additional $100 to support competing in  WPLGA or SCGA Championships.

Awards and appetizers follow golf on the last week of competition.

Competitors for the Championship play from Gold Tees Only

Two week eclectic tournament.

 Record hole by hole net scores for the first week. On the second week use any improved net scores.

 If unable to play both weeks use one week score only.

Senior  Championship

50 and over. Three to four age group divisions depending upon the number of participants. Must have played in at least 3 play dates in the last 12 months.

L/G over the field = Master Senior Champion (60 or over).

L/N 70+ over the field = Super Senior. 

Other L/N winners in each of the Flights. 

"Kids" under 50 welcomed to Follow the Field.

$5 entry fee for competitors. Follow the Field players pay $1.

Match Play

Singles Elimination Match Play competition.  Net scores only. Must be able to play all four (4) weeks. 

USGA Match Play rules apply.

Qualifying Scores tracked from Jan. 4 to July 10. Competitors will be invited to compete using the lowest net score recorded in that period at one of our Wednesday events.

Must play at least 3 events during the qualifying period to compete.

Entry Fee: $20 due first week. Competitors who are eliminated are welcome to Follow the Field. Closest to the Pin/Line fee for eliminated competitors included in entry fee.

Lunch, awards and general meeting following golf on the second week. (Shotgun start on second week.)

Holiday Open House

 Holiday Dinner Party

The Annual Holiday Open House is scheduled on Tuesday afternoon; the day before the first week of the tournament. Participants are asked to bring an appetizer or dessert to share. 

The Open House also gives everyone a chance to do a little "side" betting” on the partners to "Win, Place or Show" in the Tournament. 

The Holiday Tournament is a two-week eclectic partners event.  NET score winners only.  Partners take the better score on each hole from the two weeks.

Each partner plays from the teeing ground and then each player plays her partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot partners select the better ball and play that ball alternately to complete the hole. On par 3 holes only the tee shot is played by both partners; partners select one of those shots and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.

Partners must play from the same Tee Boxes, but play from both Gold and Gold/Green Tees is allowed. 

All members are welcome to compete whether or not they’ve played in regular events. 

Entry Fee: $10 due the first week.  CLUB FUNDS $150

Holiday Dinner Party will be on the Thursday evening following the last day of the Christmas Tournament awards and prizes given out after dinner.

Winners for the monthly Low Net, Low Putts and Most Improved Player for the year will be announced. Sweeps prizes will be distributed.

$10 voluntary gift exchange is always optional.
